by Dave Glynn

Ronnie has officially launched his solo career with this fine collection of in-your-face Blues songs that prove Ronnie’s ready to go out on his own.

Ronnie has had the fortune of growing up on the road with one of the all-time great Blues families. Lonnie’s gentlemanly ways rub off on Ronnie, but you have to hand it to Ronnie for his independent charge on this album. The impression you get from this strong debut is that Ronnie wasn’t just mentored by Lonnie, but by Jimi, Buddy, Albert, Elvin, Junior, Luther and Koko too. The CD demands listening interest with a variety of styles tied together by Ronnie’s stinging Stratocaster.

Golddigger is a great launch for Ronnie’s already brilliant career that officially started in 1986 as the rhythm guitarist in the Lonnie Brooks Band. For 13 years, Ronnie supported his Dad as rhythm guitarist trading licks back and forth. Ronnie proved at the Blues on the Fox kick-off performance last June at the Paramount Theatre that he was ready to showcase his talents as a band leader.

This CD is a partying pleasure and we should look forward to more from Ronnie in the future.

You can purchase the CD directly from Watchdog Records, P.O. Box 68, Worth, IL 60482 or from Ronnie’s web site at www.ronniebakerbrooks.com

(RATING - 4 GUITARS - "Damn good Blues")
