Ronnie Baker Brooks to Leave Lonnie Brooks Band

While 1999 closes out the millennium, it brings a new beginning for rising star Ronnie Baker Brooks.

After 13 years as lead rhythm guitarist, and under the guidance of his famous father, Alligator Recording Artist Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie will leave the show-stopping band to spread his wings and rise to higher musical realms. Ronnie's final performance as a member of the Lonnie Brooks Band will be at Buddy Guy's Legends on New Year's Eve (December 31, 1998).

Ronnie continues his family's musical legacy with a new and exciting flair of his own. His extraordinary talent is evidenced by his electrifying live shows and his exhilarating new CD "Golddigger," recently released by Watchdog Records.

Ronnie's career as an accomplished singer and guitarist continues to expand since his first performance at the age of 9 with his dad at Pepper's Hideout in Chicago. Under Lonnie's watchful eye and with the help of other blues legends such as Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, Elvin Bishop, Luther Allison, Junior Wells, and Buddy Guy, Ronnie's skills have been finely sharpened. Over the years, Ronnie has written and recorded a number of songs with Lonnie, and has also recorded with Koko Taylor, Elvin Bishop, Little Ed and the Blues Imperials, and Katie Webster on the Alligator's 20th Anniversary Tour Album.

His skills as a songwriter are evident by the songs he wrote on "Golddigger," and the hit song "Like Father, Like Son" (co-written with Alligator president Bruce Iglauer) which he recorded with Lonnie Brooks on the CD, "Satisfaction Guaranteed."

As his dad's "Backbone" man, Ronnie opened Lonnie's shows all over the world. He also performed with his own band in between his Dad's schedule.

Ronnie will officially carry the torch as he breaks out on his own January 1, 1999.
