Dynamic: There are
several situations in which you need a static IP address as opposed
to a dynamic one. If you run 1 or more servers or any other
service or 'application' directly on your site that requires
external access, you will need one or more static addresses.
Static addresses may also be necessary if you allow incoming video
conferencing.
Static IP addresses are not
needed if you only browse the Internet, send and receive email
through an offsite server, download and upload files or use instant
message or chat services.

Modem vs Router:
A modem makes a basic connection to the Internet, while a router is
a more sophisticated piece of equipment that goes beyond just being
a modem. A router has firewall capabilities, is more stable, and
allows our Customer Service staff to check it to ensure you have a
reliable connection to the Internet. A router does processing that
would otherwise be done on your computer, making your computer
operate faster and more efficiently. Customers first lease a
router from us, and then we manage it for them. More about
leasing and management is below.
Managed Router: This
is a feature that no other company provides. By having a managed
router we are able to access the router and perform diagnostics and
do some repairs right over the DSL connection. This keeps you up and
running and avoids potential down time caused by minor router
glitches that might have caused you to seek a replacement router and
interrupted your Internet enjoyment. Since this service is so
critical to efficient Internet operations and an enjoyable Internet
experience we require all customers to participate. (The cost of
this critical service is only $2.99.)
Leased Router: Our 1-port router is leased
to you for FREE, and is guaranteed. 4-port and wireless routers are
leased for an additional charge and are also guaranteed. Our
guarantee insures that if any
of our routers ever go bad for any
reason we will replace them absolutely free. No questions. No
restrictions. We send you a replacement router and you send us the
bad router in return at no charge to you.
With a purchased modem, if it gets
fried by an electrical storm or coffee spilled on it then you'll
have to buy a replacement with money out of your pocket. We
replace any defective leased equipment, (router or wireless cards),
at no additional charge. We don't care why the item is defective, we
simply take care of it.
Managed Firewall at the
Router: As mentioned earlier, a router has firewall
capabilities. By having this feature we turn on the Firewall giving
you one more level of security for you and your computers. This
protection costs only $2.00 per month.
E-Mail Boxes: Each
level of DSL service comes with some free mail boxes. DSL 1500
customers get twenty free e-mail boxes, and DSL 3500 customers get
forty free e-mail boxes. Each additional mail box desired costs
$1.00.
Spam and Virus Filtering:
This is a service that could eliminate hundreds of junk e-mails
every day as well as protect you from potential viruses. While no
system is 100% effective all of the time, this protection has
eliminated a great deal of frustration and worry for the customers
who have it. We are constantly getting e-mails from customers
thanking us for this service and how it has improved their level of
enjoyment of the Internet experience. This peace of mind is only
$1.00 per e-mail address.
